If I were to describe my days in high school in one word I would call it a journey. A journey that I thought in the beginning I would never finish. At the beginning of my high school days I felt intimidated by how big the school was it took up 2 blocks all around. I was especially intimidated and a little nervous by how many people were attending the school, which was close to 2,500 people. For the first few months of attending high school, which was named George Washington I felt prepared to get the best grades and get the best education I can get. What I wasn’t prepared for were the other 2,500 students who would affect my life for the next 2 years. As I got to know more people the more I observed from them and their habits, same habits that I would then mimic. Even though the school was a good place to learn overall there were situations that I could have been avoided that led me getting kicked out of school. A lot had to do with all the drugs that was going around, in which I would then start experimenting with. In the end I ended up getting kicked out of my school and switching to another school. I do not regret switching school I feel like I have learned a lot more in that school as well as meeting a whole lot of people than any other school I been to. This school was Downtown high school.

right off the bakc you said that high school was a journey and thats how it felt for me also. The size of my high school was also intimidating for me I thought I was never going to find my classes and that I would get in trouble for being late trying to find them.going in to high school you said you felt prepared, even though you were intimidated by the school being prepared gave you the confidence you needed to even attend high school. Also it does not matter what high schoool you went to because in the end a diploma is a diploma just look at the experiences at George Washington as a lesson learned for your college experience.
ReplyDeleteKevin,
ReplyDeleteI can see where you are coming from. We all have had our share of expiriences that we have had to overcome to later on in life learn from them. But I am sure that you can agree with me when I say "everything happens for a reason."
Maybe i can't understand the reasons that why you will switch your high school because i never have that situation before. But what i want to tell you is you are brave, you chose a better environment for yourself and your future instead of stayed there and do nothing.you know what you want, that's not everybody can do ,i mean everybody know to "choose" ,but not everyone know how to choose a right one for themselves. You did the right thing! :)
ReplyDeleteI can relate to you blog post. I also switched schools and found a better academic community for myself. High school is only a life learning experience because most of us did not take it seriously at all. Honestly that's the time we are supposed to focus on our academics because we probably wouldn't have to do the yearup program. (not saying it's a bad program, we just would have been in college somewhere). I like your blog page. See you tommorow
